The Most Interesting Caribbean Cruise Itinerary

When I told friends and family that I was going on a last-minute cruise they would immediately reply: oh! Nice! Where are you going?

They expected a response like “the Mediterranean” or “the Bahamas” or even just “the Caribbean”. Instead, I hesitated. Because the MSC Divina was sailing to the Caribbean. And across the Caribbean to South America. And then up through Central America, stopping at two more ports, before crossing the Caribbean once again for a final port day in the Bahamas. While technically a Caribbean cruise, this itinerary is not what immediately comes to mind.

A Port Day in Ocho Rios: Mystic Mountain and Dunn’s River Falls

The first stop on what I’m calling The Most Interesting Caribbean Cruise Itinerary was, to me, the least exciting. I visited Jamaica via cruise ship in the past, on an itinerary that called in Falmouth. But his time we would be visiting Ocho Rios. Thus, I define a great balcony cabin as the balcony cabin I enjoyed on the MSC Meraviglia. Check out this video tour of that great balcony cabin and read on to learn how to choose a similarly-great cabin for your own MSC Meraviglia cruise.

Thinking of Sailing on MSC Cruise Line? Check Out This Annoyingly-Detailed Review First!

On Christmas Eve I drank a glass of bourbon and accidentally convinced my best friend to join me on a semi-last-minute MSC cruise. MSC is an Italian cruise line which just recently came to the North American market, so there’s not a whole lot of a lot of information on MSC floating around out there (pun intended.) Here’s what we learned on our first MSC sailing.

When Things Go Wrong: UnCruise (Mis)Adventures

In the past couple of years, the blinding light of media attention has turned on the cruise industry, taking joy in exposing every mishap on the high seas. And why not? Legitimate tragedies aside, a story about Carnival passengers being forced to poop in a bag? Yeah. People click on that. I know I follow those stories with sick fascination. Admit it. You do, too.
