You Know You Have A Travel Blogging Problem When…
…you have to leave on your next trip before finishing your posts about your last trip. I guess that’s why I really should have been posting from the actual trip, huh?
I hate to do it, but this post is out of order. And by that I don’t mean ‘it doesn’t flush’! You all know that my OCD pretty much demands that everything be orderly, and I really wanted to finish posting about our road trip before I left for my next trip. But, well, that’s not going to happen, as I still have five road trip destinations to write about…and about three hours before my plane leaves for Florida!
Did I mention that I’m leaving for Orlando for three weeks? Because I am–tonight. Which is insane, because I feel like I just got back from our last trip. I actually took things directly out of my road trip suitcase and put them in my carry-on backpack!
I’ll be in Orlando mainly to do research in Disney World for my hopefully-coming-soon book, The World is Your Classroom. I’ll be spending twenty days visiting the various Disney parks, resorts, and restaurants. While I will have company for the first half of the trip, the second half will be truly on my own. But that’s ok, because I have a lot of work to do. Nose, prepare to meet the grindstone!
Of course this doesn’t mean that I’m going to give up sharing my adventures and lessons from our road trip. It just means that they will be interspersed with ramblings about Disney, Orlando, and the surrounding area. I’m hoping to take at least one day ‘off’ and do a road trip to St. Augustine–so expect a post about that as well. But I also have to finish telling you about Peggy’s Cove and Lunenburg, Cape Breton, Prince Edward Island, Fundy National Park, and Portland, Maine!
Between all of that and the writing I’ll be doing for my book, I see a serious hand cramp in my future!
HI- hope the flight goes well- with all this hype about extra security today, plan on delays at the airport. I think the idea of at least one day trip (St. Augustine’s is lovely- from a memory way-way back when I was about 14-16 years old) is excellent. That could be another chapter (or appendix or something)- things to do “from” Disney that aren’t Disney- Cape Canaveral (sp???) and NASSA would be another- so would one or more beaches…. Looking forward to progress posts.
The line at security wasn’t bad (maybe five minutes) but it was more than I’ve ever seen in our tiny little airport (it’s one of the smallest international airports in the world). As for other chapters, we’ll see how that goes. I originally had many ‘extras’ planned–things other than WDW–but I fear it might be too much. But there’s no reason I can’t still GO to those places and take some notes, right? Just in case? I have a really nice car, so I feel kind of ok about driving around a bit while I’m down here.
Well, there is also volume 2… so, yes, take lots of notes.
Does that mean I can drive 5 hours to the Keys, too? Because I’d REALLY like to do that! Unlimited mileage….
I would definitley do that! Maybe even check into the cost of a quick ‘puddle jumper’ flight- might be cheaper than the gas. If not, do the drive (would probably be reallly fun when your friend is there). Check out Hemmingway’s home, etc (see- lots of literary justification, too).
No time with friend–it would be a solo trip. I’ll have to see how productive I am in the next week or so. I’ll do it, but only if the time I spend won’t detract from my work. And really, it’s ‘only’ a five hour drive (each way). After our road trip this summer, that is literally nothing!
What you’re describing sounds exactly like my blogging life! I’m still not finished talking about my spring trip to Spain, and I’ve just come back from San Diego and Vegas. AND I have to plan for my WDW trip in November. Busybusybusy. I would love to spend 3 weeks at WDW. Sounds awesome. Have a great time!
I’m glad I’m not alone! And now I’m even behind on any blogging whatsoever, because I’m so busy here! It sounds like your life is full and fun, too. Can’t wait to read about your adventures!
You’ll be here (in WDW) for the Food and Wine Fest–I’m super jealous!
